01/21/2005: "Books, Books, Books"
I’m addicted to books. (I’m also addicted to JJill but that's another post.)
Yesterday I loaded up my shopping chart at http://www.qpb.com with six books I want. I had to stop when the total topped $70. I managed not to buy anything though; just left them there in the cart. Gotta pay the rent and bills first I had to remind myself. Still the books sing to me.
I belong to two book clubs and am continuously tempted by others. This week I almost joined a science fiction book club against my better financial judgment. I even choose the books I wanted and filled out the enrollment form online. But then the site kept giving me an error message that it couldn't verify my address. I took it as a sign and cancelled the transaction. Whew. I couldn't afford to feed yet another book club habit.
I already belong to Quality Paperback Book Club (my favorite) and One Spirit Book Club.
Plus there’s a used book store in my neighborhood. I try to get the books I’m craving there before paying full price elsewhere.
I love books but I can't seem to find enough time to read them. Looking at my bookshelf now I see seven books I bought but haven't read yet. In my nightstand there's another four. On my desk at work there are five that have been loaned to me but that I haven't even started yet.
A girl can never have too many books.
"So many books, so little time."
I’m starting a list of recommended books; hope to have it posted soon for all you other book-junkies out there.
