06/11/2005: "Pump Boys and Dinettes"

I need a vacation, but it’s a no-go so far.

So I did the next best thing, I sang my way through most of “Pump Boys and Dinettes.”

If you’ve never seen this musical and have the chance, I highly recommend it. It’s just about the most fun you can have in a theatre.

I admit it was the vacation song that’s been ringing in my head lately, but there is so much to love on this soundtrack.

Favorite tracks, besides “Vacation” of course:
“Fisherman’s Prayer,” “Be Good or Be Gone, “Mona,” “Tips,” and “No Holds Barred.”

Fisherman’s Prayer -
“Give me the strength to get up at dawn, help me get out of bed. Give me the vision to find my rod and reel. Show me the righteous way to my shoes, pardon the path I tread. Bless oh Lord thy fish, my evening meal.”

Be Good or Be Gone –

Mona –

Tips –
“Well you may be good-looking and have lots of charm, and I feel hot and sexy when you touch my arm. But I’m warning you now, I’ll turn from hot to cold quick if when you’re finished at the table you haven’t left this chick a tip. I’m talking cold cash.”

Vacation –
“There’s no one’s face I like. I’m disaster ready to strike. I need a vacation.”

No Holds Barred -
“No Holds Barred, baby I’m going to Florida, won’t you come along with me? We’ll get the hell out of Dodge and find suitable lodging on the beach at your favorite key.”

Ah, and then there’s the Farmer Tan song…LOL.

I feel better already.
